LONG MARCH REFLECTION
“..We were born to unite with our fellow men, and to join in community with the human race..”
- Marcus Tullius Cicero-
As an annual program, Long march has built good bonding between students and company’s environment. Each year the committee created new route and activity with special theme that will raise students’ awareness. This year, the estimate distance was 20 KM and theme of the Long March 2009 was “A walk of Solidarity”. The aim of this program was to enable the students of SMA Sugar Group to have better awareness of their environment where they live and to challenge students’ physical endurance, raise students self-belonging and solidarity also to equipped students with new skills; leadership, team work and problem solving.
It took a month to have all activities. There were series of activities in this program, such as team bonding, physical practice, long march simulation and the long march itself. As the culmination of the program which was held on Friday, April 3, 2009. Students were placed in a group based on combination of two houses. They created their group name with unique names; Zombie, D’blotongs, Speedy, Blukutuk, Pitek, Semut, Larente, Jungkir Balik, Uget-uget, Otok-otok, Elemen, Cakalele, Cangcorang, Pupa, and Cakibar 12. Before they did the long march, they had cheering competition to raise their spirit. At 9.00 pm, the first group started the long march. “..It was fun! I enjoyed it even though it made me tired. “otok-otok” (my group) can cooperated each other at D-day. In the long march simulation, I had to remind them but in the real long march, they were very excited . Yoga and Frandy did good job. They always remind their friends to walk in two lines and check all members. Dhiko and Amal did good job as logistic. They helped girls to bring their bags. Rizki, Ivo and Isada enjoyed it by singing all the time and entertained us. All of the group members reached the finish line. Even Ivo had to lied down for a moment. They did their best.
